About The Merchant Manual
I level the playing field between small business owners and payment processors.
The payment processing industry is deliberately complicated. Between four-page statements filled with arbitrary abbreviations, multi-year non-cancellable hardware leases, and hidden rate markups, small business owners overpay thousands of dollars every year simply because processors count on them not having the time to decipher the fine print.
Who I Am
The Merchant Manual is an independent educational publication and practical handbook written by a frontline merchant services support specialist and payment industry veteran. I troubleshoot batch failures, reprogram credit card terminals, and audit statement markups every single day.
I am not an affiliate link farm designed to push you toward whoever pays the highest commission. I don't sell proprietary processing contracts, and I never push multi-year equipment leases. My mission is strictly educational: giving merchants the transparent facts processors prefer they didn't know.
Editorial Independence
How I maintain 100% trust with my readers.
Every tutorial and troubleshooting guide is based on real-world support calls, hardware testing, and active merchant scenarios.
If a processor charges an arbitrary fee or locks merchants into predatory contracts, I call it out directly by name.
All statement audits, MID numbers, cardholder info, and business names are 100% redacted to ensure total privacy.
Have a Statement Question or Terminal Error?
Send a redacted excerpt or terminal error code to my desk. I regularly cover real reader questions in upcoming guides.
